Genesis, the premium brand owned by Hyundai, has launched its first full-electric SUV called the GV60.
Genesis, a brand that until recently was known only to the American public, also made its debut in certain European markets. Genesis belongs to the Hyundai group, and the newest model in its range is the GV60, a full electric crossover.
Genesis GV60 – premium electric SUV
It is the third model declined on the Korean group’s E-GMP platform after Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. It uses the 800V architecture which allows ultra-fast charging at 350kW and can accommodate one or two electric motors and batteries of various capacities.
In the Genesis range, the new GV60 model will be included under the current GV80 SUV. The premium brand also has in the range an electric version of the G80 sedan.
With a brand-specific design, the new electric model GV60 is characterized by specific proportions of an SUV-coupe, and instead of classic rear-view mirrors uses video cameras. It is the third electric model to adopt this system after the Audi e-tron and Honda e. The interior design is simple and clean, a specific element being the crystal sphere used to control the automatic gearbox.
Genesis has not released full technical details for the GV60, but the model will definitely take over the technical data from Ioniq5 and Kia EV6. We will most likely see versions with 58 kWh or 77.8 kWh batteries with one or two electric motors.
The Genesis GV60 will be part of next year’s European offer, but the model is only offered in certain European markets.
