Chinese company Geely is investing 370 million yuan ($ 53 million) in the development of “safer cars.” In particular, the manufacturer will create cars with comprehensive anti-virus protection, which will not allow harmful particles to enter the cabin.
Specialists from Geely research centers in China, the USA and Europe will launch joint development of new environmentally sustainable materials with antibacterial and antiviral properties. They will be used in new air conditioning systems, as well as on surfaces that the driver and passengers most often touch. In particular, we are talking about the steering wheel, gear selector, buttons and touch displays.
“The prevention of epidemics is a big job that requires the efforts of the whole society over a long period of time. Cars are the most common form of transport, we spend a significant part of our lives in them, they practically become our second home, ”said An Ge Tsonghui, head of Geely.
