Each side will invest 2.7 billion yuan (almost $ 389 million) in the joint venture, and the launch of Smart electric models will begin in 2022. About the “Smarts” of the new generation it is known that Mercedes-Benz designers will be engaged in their development, and the process will be controlled by a board of directors of six people – three from each of the companies.

Until 2022, Mercedes-Benz will continue to produce EQ ForTwo and EQ ForFour at European plants in France and Slovenia. After 2022, the capacities of the French company in Ambach organize the production of electric vehicles of the EQ line.
