IN research 6300 electric cars of various brands from around the world took part. As a result, it turned out that on average the battery loses about 2.3 percent of the capacity each year of operation. The authors concluded that with such small losses, batteries can survive even the cars in which they are installed.
At the same time, experts from Geolab clearly demonstrated how much the degree and speed of wear depends on various cooling systems. For example, in the Tesla Model S, which uses a water cooling system, the battery lost only 2.3 percent of capacity in a year. At Nissan Leaf, which uses passive air cooling, this figure has already reached 4.2 percent annual loss.
