Musk is dancing on the background of a slide with a photo of Tesla Model Y, the second model that will stand on the conveyor of the Shanghai factory. The first was Model 3 – now the company produces 1,000 electric cars per week with a localization of 30 percent. By the end of 2020, the level of localization is planned to be brought up to 100 percent. As for the plant itself, it is designed to assemble 250 cars annually.
While Model 3 can be bought in China for 355,800 yuan (3.15 million rubles), however, with an increase in the level of localization and production volumes, the electric car will become cheaper by about 20 percent.
