Let’s start a little from afar. The fact is that the Volkswagen – Ford alliance created this year initially envisioned the joint development of commercial vehicles. But in the summer, automakers announced new agreements: Ford will gain access to the MEB modular electric platform and build an electric car for the European market by 2023 on it. It is not yet clear whether this is a relative of the Mustang Mach-E or a completely new model.
At the same time, Auto Express, referring to Ford’s global director of electrification, Ted Kannis, reports that the “younger” Mustang Mach-E, and plans to create two versions, will also be based on MEB. Due to the architecture, its silhouette will not be as swift as the older model, but it will “definitely be a crossover”. It can come in versions with rear or all-wheel drive; with motors of different powers and several battery options.
