BMW has clarified the technical specifications of its first serial electric crossover – iX3. Serial production of the crossover will begin next year
The conceptual harbinger of the crossover, introduced in 2018, had two electric motors and four-wheel drive. However, as it became known, only the rear-wheel drive version with one engine will go into production. It is reported that the engine develops 286 hp. (400 N • m). True, instead of data on dynamic characteristics, the company boasted a complete rejection of the use of rare-earth metals in the production of a power unit.
As for the battery, it has a capacity of 74 kW • h, which provides the iX3 with a cruising range of 440 kilometers. For comparison, the 313-horsepower Audi e-tron 50 quattro with a 71 kWh battery travels 336 kilometers on a single charge, and the 400-horsepower Jaguar I-Pace – 470 kilometers thanks to a 90 kWh battery.
