The Rules of the road (SDA) of the Russian Federation have been clarified with regard to the policy of compulsory motor third-party liability insurance (CTP). The driver who has drawn up the CTP insurance agreement in electronic form will have the opportunity to present to the employee of the State traffic inspectorate for verification both a copy of the insurance policy on paper and in the form of an electronic document on a tablet or smartphone. This is stated in the Government Decree, which entered into force on January 2.
It is clarified that a police officer can verify the fact of concluding a compulsory motor liability insurance contract by requesting information in an automated information system for compulsory insurance.
The document is intended to bring the provisions of the SDA in accordance with the provisions of the federal law on OSAGO. Formally, the norm has already been in force since May 2019 in the OSAGO law, however, the road traffic rules stipulated the requirement to bring a copy of the electronic policy with you only on paper.
