Dream cars born in the garage

### Maybach 57S Coupe In March 2008, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe was presented at the Geneva Motor Show, a six-meter road yacht, the back row of which is more spacious than another tourist bus. And the Maybach company, which at that time was still feeling normal, didn’t react to this attack – except for the Exelero concept car, created in conjunction with the Fulda tires. Looking at the success of the two-door Rolls, including the open Drophead Coupe, the Maybach brand was definitely worth trying to create a coupe.
Partially this gap was filled by Xenatec, which built several sophisticated two-doors on the basis of the short-base 57-Maybach. Moreover, the approach to each car was the most scrupulous: the coupe received new body kits, more sporty seats, extended wheel arches, and most importantly – approval from Daimler. Moreover, Daimler provided Xenatec with original drawings, so that the studio takes into account all the nuances of the Maybach design. It is not surprising that such a careful approach resulted in indiscreet price tags: the cost of the coupe began with a mark of 650 thousand euros. It was planned to produce 100 such cars, but because of the weak PR campaign, Xenatec built less than 10 coupes – which today can cost more than a million dollars.
### Nissan GT-R Wagon Nissan GT-R is an outstanding car, but impractical: behind it you can only sit with your chin pressed to your chest (and only if schoolchildren are placed on the front seats), and you can only put it in the trunk a box of Christmas toys and a couple of garlands. At the same time, cars are more practical, but with the characteristics of the GT-R, Nissan does not – except for the piece Juke-R. But this omission can patch up the tuners, creating something like “Geter for summer residents.”
There are several GT-R Wagon projects in the world, but all of them are similar, plus or minus, and I use the Nissan Stagea in the M35 body as the base. The most aesthetically perfect option in 2010 was presented by Kids Heart – Stagea received not only the front part from the GT-R, but also a characteristic rear bumper with a pair of double-barreled exhaust pipes. Then, as stated by Kids Heart, the car was only half ready – the plans were to install a 485-horsepower VR38DETT engine and a GT-R transmission. Whether they managed to realize the plan to the end – the story is silent, but the five-door GT-R looks great.
### Subaru BRZ STI The advent of the all-wheel drive and turbocharged BRZ STI has been waiting since the usual BRZ was born. And the company Subaru in every possible way played up to this expectation: it will either release a camouflaged prototype at the Nurburgring, or introduce the BRZ STI concept car. But the BRZ coupe has been produced for the ninth year, and things are still there: the best that Fuji Heavy Industries have excelled at is several versions “under STI”, and even then in selected markets. And some fans of the brand are fed up with this expectation.
Australian Peter Dunn, who likes to participate in the rally in his spare time, created the BRZ STI with his own hand, pulling the coupe body onto the transmission and WRX STI engine. And he got a very unusual racing car that meets the rally class G4. True, in order to get the BRZ STI, Peter had to completely redraw the bottom of the BRZ, make a new subframe and expand the coupe, but the result was worth it. The first Evolution and STI were created in exactly the same way – the “organs” of the more powerful Mitsubishi and Subaru cars were transferred to compact models.
### BMW M3 CS Touring If the Audi RS4 keeps the Avant body from generation to generation, then the BMW M3 from the Touring console has been running its whole life. For five generations of the M3, the factory wagon M3 Touring has appeared only once – and then in the form of a prototype. Fans of the brand have been begging for a year now to provide them with a compact compact station wagon to combat Audi and Mercedes, but BMW management is confident that such a machine will not be in demand.
Therefore, touring M3 are born in garages. The latest replenishment is the BMW M3 CS Touring, built by the tuner Sander in conjunction with Eventuri. The car has already visited the SEMA and Essen Motor Show, everywhere it was greeted very warmly – now Sander is asked to build several more of the same. And he does not seem to mind. As for the station wagon shown in the photo, it appeared after Sunder bought the broken M3 CS and the usual station wagon of the third series. The result of the crossing was a combat “trailer” with an inline “six” with a capacity of 460 horsepower.
### Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Starting from the 107th body of the Mercedes-Benz SL, it has seriously grown fat and has turned from a sports car into a luxury grand tourer. And judging by the sales figures, this strategy was right. However, there were conservatives who wanted to see the SL sporty and light (as befits an abbreviation). And for them, Boschert introduced a special car in 1989.
Boschert B300-24 With Biturbo made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show and was a shortened E-Class with a front end from the SL R129, and most importantly – canonical gull wing doors. And such a car could not go unnoticed by the public – everyone wanted it! True, there were not so many real buyers, and Boschert sold about a dozen cars, most of which were without “gull wings” (they were offered as an option – despite the fact that the basic version of the car cost an exorbitant 165,000 marks). As befits the heir to the 300 SL, under the hood was not a heavy V12, but an in-line 3-liter six-cylinder engine. Thanks to the twin turbocharging, its power reached 320 horsepower, which was enough for a maximum speed of 274 kilometers per hour.
### Porsche 911 Sedan People have dreamed of a practical Porsche for decades. But the wife of William Dick Jr. received it before everyone else, in 1967 – such a present was made to his wife by a car collector from California. The car was built in a single copy by Dick Troutman and Tom Barnes on the basis of a slightly damaged 911. In order to get a spectacular sedan, customizers had to cut the car in half, lengthen the wheelbase by 53 centimeters and make a completely new roof that would look like a four-door Porsche came off the stocks of a factory in Germany.
When creating the sedan, they also used an additional pair of doors from another 911 – in fact, they were simply deployed backwards and slightly modified. So, yes – this 911 has the rear doors open upstream as if on a Rolls-Royce. The interior uses first-class red leather, which in combination with a green body even now looks modern. At one time, the unique 911 was repainted in burgundy, but several years ago it was again dressed in green. Who is the current owner of the car is unknown.
### Lancia Prisma Integrale EVO Bartek Wilk from Poland has always loved compact sports sedans like the Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Lancer, but he wanted something new, original. So he came up with the idea to turn the all-wheel drive Lancia Prisma into a four-door version of the iconic Delta Integrale. And, it seems, he almost succeeded – in any case, outwardly Prisma really became very similar to Integrale. But in terms of technology there is still something to strive for.
The sedan uses a two-liter turbo engine from Alfa Romeo 164 (the closest relative to the Delta Integrale engine) and a standard all-wheel drive Prism transmission. In front, Bartek installed home-made McPherson struts, as well as Brembo brakes. In a circle installed shortened factory springs, as well as shock absorbers Bilstein B6. As Wilk admits, the machine still needs to be worked on, but it leaves no hope of making a full Integrale out of it. Who knows how Evikam and Verse would have lived if such a model were produced in series.

Automakers are always cautious. They are able to ignore enthusiastic reactions to promising concept cars, to cancel cars ready for production at the last moment (as was the case with the BMW M5 Cabrio and Range Rover SV Coupe) and not pay attention to those requests that are repeatedly voiced by potential customers. And when large companies do not want to hear customers, they go on stage – local tuning and body shops, which embody ideas that lie on the surface. The next 7 cars were created in small cramped garages, although they look like they were made in large enterprises.
