In 2020, dramatic changes will be made in the rules for taking the driver’s license exam, TASS reports. In particular, candidates for drivers will not have to take the “platform”, and the theoretical part of the exam will be expanded.
According to the agency, the relevant government decree will enter into force on October 1. The main thesis of future innovations is the refusal to pass part of the practical exam at the “site”: candidates for drivers will have to demonstrate their skills on roads that are closed to traffic or with low traffic.
“Candidates for drivers will be tested in areas that are closed to the movement of other vehicles, or on a section of the road with low traffic, at the same parking lots near shopping malls,” explained Nikolai Gilyakov, head of the examination work department of the supervisory department of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Russia.
The traffic police also indicated that from the fall of 2020 the penalty point system will be abolished when passing the practical exam, and those who disagree with the results of candidates for drivers will have the opportunity to appeal the decision of the commission.
Finally, the theoretical part of the exam will be expanded to include questions on the basics of psychology and medicine. It is assumed that as a result the number of tasks proposed for solving will be increased to several thousand.
“We assume that for each candidate for driver, depending on the category, the number of questions in the test ticket will also increase – from 20 to 50,” Gilyakov said, emphasizing that the number of mistakes that the candidate can make will also be increased.
Earlier, as Rambler reported, it became known that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health agreed on the need to take away rights without a court order from drivers who are ill with alcoholism and drug addiction, as well as those suffering from mental disorders. According to Autonews, experts are preparing amendments to the law on road safety.
