The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes to increase administrative punishment for certain types of offenses. The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Anton Gerashchenko told the public about this.
In particular, it is proposed to increase the fine for exceeding the maximum permitted speed of more than 50 km / h from 510 to 3400 UAH, for hiding from the scene of a traffic accident – from 255 to 3400 UAH, plus the possibility of deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for up to 6 months. A fine for driving by a person who does not have the right to do so is proposed to be mutilated twenty times, from 510 to 10,200 UAH.
In addition, the ministry considers it necessary to reduce the threshold for exceeding the speed of movement from which administrative responsibility sets in from 20 km / h to 10 km / h. It is also proposed not to qualify driving while intoxicated as a criminal offense, but to significantly increase the administrative penalty for such violations.
The deputy minister also said that in the first quarter of 2020 they plan to launch a video and photo registration system. At the moment, video cameras operate in test mode on five avenues of Kiev and have already recorded more than 41 thousand cases of speeding. In the future, cameras will be installed in hazardous places and in places where drivers often exceed speed.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, from January to October of this year, 129 thousand road accidents were recorded, of which 21 thousand with victims. Also were compiled 96 thousand admin protocols under Art. 130 KUoAP for driving in a state of alcoholic, narcotic or other intoxication.
