The ACEA report on registrations in the first quarter of 2021 shows that the Dacia brand registered an increase of 6.9%, to 88,913 units.

The European car market grew in the first quarter of this year by 0.9%, to 3,080,751 units, according to the report of the Association of European Car Manufacturers (ACEA). In this context, the leader of the European car market remains the Volkswagen group, with 771,865 registered units (-3.8%), followed by Stellantis with 669,676 units (+ 7.4%) and Renault Group with 260,219 (-3%).
Of the total Renault group registrations in the first quarter, 88,913 units, ie one third, are related to the Dacia brand. The Romanian brand owned by the French group reported for March an increase of 67.4% in registrations to 34,200 units, while the volume for the period January – March corresponds to an increase of 6.9%.
Of course, Dacia does not claim to be at the top of the rankings, this zone being dominated by brands such as Volkswagen (331,355 units), Peugeot (215,470 units), Toyota (183,069 units), BMW (182,401 units) and Mercedes-Benz (180,928 units) . The presence of the German premium brands, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, in the Top 5 is a curiosity of this period. Usually their places in the ranking were occupied by brands like Renault or Ford.
It is important to mention that the increasing sales of Dacia also led to an increase in market share. Thus, if in the first quarter of the previous year, the brand was chosen by 2.7% of all car buyers in Europe, now their percentage has increased to 2.9%. This year, brands such as Volvo (2.9%), Nissan (2.5%) or Seat (3.3%) have similar market shares. At the same time, more well-known brands, such as Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Mini, Smart, Land Rover, Mazda, Honda or Mitsubishi have lower market shares than Dacia.
– 117,789 cars were produced in the first quarter in Mioveni and Craiova
