The goal: to transform Chalki Island into an emission-free economy. Citroen is investing in this project, helping it to become the first Greek “ECO” island.
In addition to the French company, other important partners are involved, such as Vodafone Hellas, ALD Automotive and Akuoenergy Greece. The plan aims to transform the island into one that can sustain itself energetically. Thus, pure electric mobility will be implemented, in addition to other “smart” features. The reason for choosing Chalki Island: it is under the auspices of Unesco as the International Center for Peace and Friendship.

Specifically, Citroen offers public authorities, in the first phase, 6 fully electric vehicles. Two Ami will be given to the Police and Coast Guard, two ë-C4 and a ë-Spacetourer will reach the municipality of Chalki Island, while a ë-Jumpy will be delivered to the Chalki Energy Community. For two of them, there will be a free lease for 48 months, after which Citroen will buy them back and donate them to the municipality of Chalki Island.
Citroen invests in “green” economy
“This project will change the lives of many people for the time being, but this is just the beginning. Through this initiative to transform Chalki into a “green”, emission-free economy, Citroën paves the way for a better future and demonstrates that electrification is the best solution. “, he adds Vincent Cobée.
Finally, all conventional and electrified vehicles on the island will be replaced with electric ones, from several brands. Citroen will also provide “affordable prices” to potential local customers. At the same time, it will ensure the free use of the applications that the machines incorporate.
