Since 2020, the Chevrolet Niva will be produced under the Lada brand at the GM-AvtoVAZ plant. This follows from the presentation of the company, presented at a press conference following the results of 2019, Olivier Morne, vice president of sales and marketing of AvtoVAZ.
“Integration of Niva into the Lada lineup” is listed in the list of company priorities for 2020 shown in the presentation.
In December 2019, AvtoVAZ signed an agreement with the American company General Motors on the repurchase of a 50% stake in GM-Avtovaz Togliatti JV. The Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation granted AvtoVAZ’s request for the purchase of shares. Exclusive rights to use the Niva name are included in the perimeter of the transaction, TASS specified in AvtoVAZ.
AvtoVAZ is the largest passenger car manufacturer in Russia, with more than 560 thousand cars rolled off its assembly line in 2018. AvtoVAZ Group is part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.
