The first-generation Eado sedan entered the Celestial market in 2012. They tried to sell such a “four-door” in Russia, but it failed in our country: from 2014 to 2016. only about 200 cars were sold. In China, the best year for the “first” model was 2015, when it gained over 180,000 owners. Then demand began to fall: for example, in 2017, 92,500 customers stopped choosing Changan Eado in China. Last year, a second generation sedan started at home, but the change in style did not help, the result of ten months of 2019 was 55,419 units (-33%). And here is the Eado Plus, it is positioned in the company as a model of the third generation, although in front of us, apparently, is a deep restyling. The sedan looks more solid than its predecessor: the LED headlights merged with the radiator grille, which has become even wider, the bumpers are also new, the rear number plate has moved lower from the trunk lid, the lights have a different filling. By the way, the “four-door” has two design options for the lattice – with horizontal shiny strips or with a mesh pattern. But the profile of Eado Plus is the same as the model of the previous generation. Due to the new body kit, the length increased by 20 mm to 4730 mm, the height, on the contrary, was cut from 1555 to 1505 mm. The width and size of the wheelbase are the same – 1820 and 2700 mm, respectively.
But the interior is completely new, it was designed in the style of Changan CS55 Plus and CS75 Plus crossovers: a virtual “tidy” is combined with a touchscreen of the multimedia system that is deployed to the driver, the steering wheel and the climate control unit have also been replaced. At the same time, physical buttons were left for the “climate”, while other models of the brand have sensors instead. The equipment list also includes a panoramic sunroof, cruise control and all-round cameras.
The engines switched from the previous Eado – it’s a gasoline “aspirated” 1.6 and a “turbo four” 1.4 with a capacity of 128 and 158 hp. respectively. The first motor is combined with a five-speed “mechanics” or a six-speed “automatic”, the second is paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches.
The new Changan Eado Plus will reach Chinese dealers in the spring of next year, prices have not yet been announced. The former sedan costs from 71,900 to 103,900 yuan, which is equivalent to about 649,000 – 938,000 rubles. It is possible that he will remain in service after entering the Plus market.
Meanwhile, the “second” Eado still happens in the form of an electric car and a hatchback, their sales are considered separately. According to preliminary data, in October 2019, not a single “five-door” was sold, and according to the results of nine months, only 1,043 buyers chose the hatch. It is possible that such a modification was discontinued. The electric train, apparently, will live: in January-October 19,750 units were sold. The current “green” Eado is equipped with a 136-horsepower electric motor, the declared range is about 400 km, however, this figure is calculated according to the outdated NEDC cycle. An electric car with a new design has not yet lit up anywhere.
Changan Eado will not return to Russia. However, according to Kolesa.ru, the brand plans to bring another low-cost sedan to the Russian Federation – Alsvin. In addition, we are promised crossovers CS55 and CS75 (both without the Plus prefix so far).
