Experts believe that since January, many automakers plan to raise prices for their lineup. In addition, discounts that usually start after the New Year and apply to last year’s cars should not be expected
Over the past year, there have been many events that will seriously change the situation on the market. For example, from January 1, 2020 in Russia, the rates of utilization fees are raised – on average by about 111%. Directly, this should hit only imported cars, since car manufacturers receive subsidies from the state for cars of Russian assembly. True, there is an opinion that “domestic” manufacturers, by the guise of not disdaining, are reluctant to rewrite price tags for localized models, since they need to observe some price balance in dollar terms.
It is worth mentioning that since March 2020, Russia has introduced the so-called energy efficiency labels, which will indicate data on car fuel consumption and the level of harmful emissions. And although the Ministry of Industry and Trade assures that their implementation will not affect the cost of the machines, this cannot be ruled out yet, because the research procedure that the manufacturer must produce also requires certain costs.
By the way, several companies, for example, BMW, Volvo have already announced price increases. Moreover, one of the reasons for the growth was the increased rate of utilization fee. However, ordinary inflation, which officially makes up about 4% per year, has not gone anywhere. Analysts at the Russian Automobile Dealers Association (ROAD) expect that, given all factors, cars will rise in price by an average of 5%.
