The government decided to limit truck and bus drivers to continuous driving. The amendments to the rules of the road were reported by Interfax with reference to the relevant departments.
“Drivers of trucks with a permitted maximum mass of over 3.5 tons and buses will not be able to drive more than nine hours a day, and every 4.5 hours they will have to stop and rest,” the amendments to the SDA introduced by the Ministry of Transport say.
At the same time, twice a week, drivers, as an exception, will be able to drive for ten hours.
In addition, drivers may be driving longer if, at the end of the 4.5-hour limit, they are away from the equipped parking lot. Officials will be able to verify compliance with the new requirements, to which truck and bus drivers will be required to provide access to the tachograph and driver card upon request.
It is not yet known when the new rules will officially enter into force.
