BMW has discontinued one of its niche models, the 3-Series Gran Turismo hatchback
According to Autocar, in 2020 between the sedan and the BMW station wagon of the third series there will no longer be an intermediate model: the production of the 3-Series GT is completed. Back in May last year, the then head of BMW Harald Krueger, during the announcement of financial results for the first quarter, mentioned that the Gran Turismo hatchback would not have a successor in the new generation. The reason for this decision is very prosaic: according to the results of sales, the car was hopelessly behind the crossovers.
Interestingly, the cessation of production of the Treshka GT was one of the upcoming cost-cutting measures for BMW, along with the planned reduction in the number of power units offered since 2021. In the short term, this will allow the concern to save at least 12 billion euros.
