On February 7 and 8, Lada Xray, Lada Largus, Renault Logan, Renault Sandero and their all-terrain versions of Stepway will not go off the assembly line of AvtoVAZ. On these days, the company will introduce a downtime regime – February 7 on the evening shift and February 8 on the day, and workers will receive two-thirds of their salaries, the Vedomosti newspaper reports with reference to the AFM automaker’s union.
According to the publication, the reason for the downtime is low demand for these models. Earlier, a drop in sales was the reason for the suspension of the assembly of Lada Granta, Datsun on-Do and mi-DO (January 9-10), as well as Lada 4×4 (January 18 and 25). According to sales statistics for January 2020, dealers sold 1584 4x4s, 8470 new Grants, as well as 1225 on-Do sedans and 178 mi-DO hatchbacks.
Last fall, AvtoVAZ stopped car production due to the optimization of stocks of finished cars – then it was reported that dealers did not have time to sell already manufactured cars. The simple one lasted two days, October 31 and November 1.
AvtoVAZ finished the year 2019 in positive territory: 362.3 thousand new Lada cars were sold in the country, which is one percent more than the result of 2018. The brand occupied a market share of 20.6 percent, which was the best result of the Russian brand in the last eight years.
