Russian piston engines with power up to 600 hp which are being developed as part of the Unified Modular Platform project, can be adapted for use in aircraft construction. This was told in the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. At the moment, such a motor is used on Aurus cars, which were developed as part of the Tuple project.
“To date, ways to create an aviation version of the APD-500 engine with a capacity of 500 hp on the basis of a modern automotive engine of the EMP project have been demonstrated. and its operability and attainability of the required parameters by ground tests are shown, ”said the head of the department Denis Manturov.
As an example, he cited the work of the German company Tillert on adapting the engine range from Mercedes cars in power classes of 170 hp. and 250 hp for 2 and 4 seater aircraft. Later, these engines received the necessary certification for aviation standards.
