The Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM) has a new president. Mihai Bordeanu, head of Automobile Dacia will lead the Association until 2023.

The board of directors of the Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM) has elected a new president. Mihai Bordeanu, general manager of the local vehicle manufacturer Automobile Dacia will hold this position until 2023.
Meeting in an extraordinary meeting on June 4, 2021, the ACAROM board of directors appointed the new president of the association, as well as two vice-presidents. Thus, besides Mihai Bordeanu, the management of the Association also includes Josephine Payne – general manager of Ford Romania and Silviu Badea – general manager of the Industrial Components Group (GIC) Pitești, both with the position of vice-president.
Also starting this summer, Bogdan Cocian – General Manager of ELBA Timișoara, Sorin Poteraș – General Manager of Schaeffler Romania, Dumitru Radu – General Manager of Ronera Rubber, Gabriel Sicoe – General Business Director of Renault Grup Romania, Nicolae Movileanu – general director of Delta Invest Mioveni, Radu Caraivan – general director of Topoloveni Auto Components, Dumitru Chirleșan – rector of the University of Pitești and Adrian Sandu – general secretary of ACAROM.
It should be mentioned that the changes within the Renault group forced the former president of ACAROM, Christophe Dridi to retire. He left Romania to take over the industrial responsibilities of the Dacia brand for factories in Romania, Russia and Morocco.
“It was an honor for me to lead ACAROM during this period. In terms of my responsibilities, I will stay with the Romanian car sector and I am sure that it will continue its sustainable development “, said Christophe Dridi.
Also, Mihai Bordeanu, the new president of the Association, mentioned that “it is an honor and a responsibility for me to be appointed president of ACAROM. In this period of important changes in the automotive sector, I want ACAROM, the representative association of the automotive industry in Romania, to be the vector of development of the national automotive sector. Decarbonising the production of vehicles and car components, developing dual education and increasing cooperation with technical universities, developing infrastructure – road, rail, electrified vehicle supply – attracting new investment in this sector, will be our priorities in the coming period. ” .
Mihai Bordeanu, 22 years old in a car and FMCG
Mihai Bordeanu has 22 years of experience in marketing, trade and business in companies with a car and FMCG profile. In 2006 he joined the Toyota team in Romania where he held, in turn, the positions of marketing director, commercial director and director of the Lexus brand for the Balkans division.
In 2010 he took over the position of marketing director at Renault Commercial Roumanie for the Dacia and Renault brands. Since 2014 he has been the Marketing Director of the Renault Group for the markets of Great Britain, Ireland, Cyprus and Malta (“North Territory”), and since 2016, he has been the Marketing Director for the Eurasia region. From September 2019, he was appointed Vice President of Marketing Dacia, so that, from January 1, 2021, he will be appointed Managing Director of Dacia Brand South Eastern Europe, taking over the position of Country Head Romania from February 1.
Through his functions, Bordeanu manages the sales and marketing activity of the Dacia brand in Romania, as well as the coordination of the commercial activity of the Romanian brand in the South-Eastern Europe area. He will report to Denis Le Vot, Executive Vice President, Regions, Sales and Marketing.
Mihai Bordeanu graduated from the Faculty of Cybernetics within the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and attended general management programs in profile organizations such as London Business School and CEDEP (INSEAD). Starting with January 1, 2021, he was appointed Managing Director of Dacia Brand South Eastern Europe and Country Head Romania, from February 1.
ACAROM is the nationally representative association of the Romanian automotive industry, recognized with public utility status by GD 410/2020. ACAROM brings together approximately 170 companies in the automotive sector, including the two local car manufacturers, Dacia and Ford Romania.
According to ACAROM, its member companies generate a turnover of over 14 billion euros and provide over 113,000 jobs. At the same time, they generate about 21% of Romania’s total exports. ACAROM is an associate member of ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers Association).
At the end of 2020, the entire automotive industry in Romania included over 600 companies with about 230,000 employees. The turnover of the entire sector stood at 26.4 billion euros.
Just a few days ago, the other association in the automotive industry, the one that mainly represents the area of car importers and dealers, APIA, announced the appointment of a new president. Thus, since the summer of this year, the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers (APIA) is led by journalist Dan Vardie.
