In St. Petersburg, an unusual experiment began on tram route No. 29. Trams without conductors began to run here, and fare payment is on the conscience of passengers.
According to the press service of the committee on transport, the experiment will last several months.
Passengers have the opportunity to pay for travel with an electronic card, attaching it to the validator. The second option is cash. Trams are equipped with tolls. The principle is the same as that of ticket offices in public transport during the years of the USSR. You need to insert a bill into the machine and get a ticket. The equipment accepts two types of banknotes – 50 and 100 rubles each.
What to do for those who entered the transport with coins or one banknote of 1000 rubles is not yet clear, such situations did not arise. Nevertheless, the experience of the USSR shows that passengers actively exchanged money for each other.
There are no conductors in trams with vehicles. It is worth noting that the conductors themselves not only sell tickets, they actually control the fare, for example, make sure that all passengers attach the cards to the validators.
It is worth noting that in the trams participating in the experiment, the fare is not controlled by the driver either – his task is to drive the vehicle.
The committee on transport “RG” reported that the payment of travel in heavy duty monitors.
True, all the time they are not in the cabin. The trams are being monitored, however, fare on route 29 is in some way on the conscience of passengers. And the experiment itself is not only an attempt to find out whether public transport can be serviced without conductors, but also an opportunity to understand which of the passengers is honest and which is the hare in the shower.
