Since January, Russian dealers of several brands have announced a significant rise in price for cars of the most popular classes.

Dealers and automakers reported the inevitable rise in price of mid-priced cars from January 1, 2020, due to an increase in the so-called recycling fee. Relevant statements come from most car companies. The first manufacturer reported a rise in price Chery.

From January 1, buyers have already been notified of changes in the price lists by Mitsubishi, Jaguar Land Rover, Chevrolet, Chery, Cadillac, Volvo. Before the New Year holidays, similar statements are expected from a number of automakers.

“All cars will rise in price from a minimum of 35 to 100 thousand rubles in the middle price segment, this is an axiom. We received notifications from almost everyone – new price tags. There will be no miracles: cars will be more expensive, ”- leads RIA Novosti commentary by Vladimir Popov, president of the Favorit Motors group of companies.

Recall that from next year the recycling fee for new cars with engines up to 1 liter will increase by 46%. For cars with engines of 1-2 liters, it will grow by 112.4%, and with engines of 2-3 liters – by 123.5%. The disposal charge for cars with engines of 3–3.5 liters will increase by 126.5%, an even larger engine capacity will be levied with a charge that exceeds the current one by 145%.

As a result, new cars will become more expensive by 2–5% or more, depending on engine size, class and segment. A similar rise in price of cars occurred exactly a year ago, when the government raised the VAT rate from 18% to 20%.
